Many business founder have encyclopedic knowledge about how their organizations work, as well as how to keep and maintain profitable customers. Why? When the students are ready, engage them in socratic dialogues on the matter and their conclusions.
When the students had to explain and defend their choices orally and in writing, they also gained experience of working in an organization. In addition, students enjoyed objective responses to their opinions. With such perspective, business executives may possibly avoid certain future mistakes by improving their ways of thinking and deciding.
The concept of using case studies to learn through socratic dialogues was originally derived from how Harvard Law School learned about the appeals committees legal views. The business affairs written at Harvard Business School soon became the backbone of many curricula for college studies at many colleges. Ways to write and use such cases began to spread in useful ways.
As a countermeasure, more and more business subjects were specialized, so that less learning was focused on getting a more fundamental kind of perspective and knowledge. Responding, the program of night and online business schools was developed for professionals in the middle of their career to eradicate whatever they had not yet learned what was needed to make their jobs better and prepare them to take greater responsibility, especially in general administration.
It is clear that all these ways to learn more about business have their good points. Would not it be wonderful if they could all be combined? That jump is not as far as it may seem. Some of todays leading business researchers are affected to gain insight into how others can learn more about companies because they will acquire more knowledge of companies for themselves.

Curious about the insights he had learned about learning online, I asked him to describe how this method differs from other ways of learning about business. Here is what he told me.
Although I also teach a lot about the traditional brick and university, I find that online learning is effective because students are interested and committed, and they keep this learning much larger than with a preset menu of courses.
The committed and self-driven students will always surprise you. Students committed to self-learning are willing to listen, take constructive criticism positively and always push their limits. I appreciate students who can do this and keep their personal lives balanced.
